One killed, three hospitalized in Maryville crash

(WBIR) One person died and three others were taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Maryville.

According to the Maryville Police Department, the crash happened on West Broadway/Highway 411 in front of the Weigel's.

Authorities said a vehicle tried to make a left turned and pulled into the path of another car that was heading north toward Maryville.

(WBIR) A Maryville College student is using the power of the arts to help break many misconceptions about a condition affecting hundreds of thousands of people.

The one man show, "Impulse," follows the story of a young man diagnosed with Tourette syndrome at the age of five.

Two hurt after small plane crash in Blount County

(WBIR) The Blount County Sheriff's Office said a small plane crash injured two men around 6:15 p.m. Saturday when they crashed into some trees.

The pilot, Charles W. Hall, 65, of Newbergh, Indiana told deputies he was attempting to land on a strip off Greenwich Drive when he realized the plane was too low. He said when he attempted to pull up, the plane crashed into trees because the plane didn't have enough power.

Blount County investigating several overnight car burglaries

(WBIR) At least 20 vehicles were burglarized in a Blount County neighborhood early Sunday morning, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said the incidents happened overnight on several streets in the Druid Hills neighborhood. Burglars specifically targeted unlocked vehicles. The Sheriff is reminding people to make sure vehicles are locked when they are left unattended.

88-year-old man killed in lawnmower accident

(WBIR) The Blount County Sheriff's office says a freak accident killed an elderly man in Louisville Wednesday.

The office's spokesperson said Marvin Devault, 83, was driving a lawnmower off Boatdock Road when it flipped and pinned him underneath the mower.

The Sheriff's office said Devault died at the scene.

Indiana biker dies after accident on the dragon

(WBIR - Blount County) An Indiana man died Sunday morning after his motorcycle crashed on U.S. 129 near the North Carolina border.

According to the Blount County Sheriff's Office, Christopher Bickel, 38 of Indianapolis, Indiana, was heading south at around 9:30 a.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle at a turn at mile marker 5.

BCSO said his brakes locked up and he went off the side of the road before hitting a tree 25 feet below.

First responders pronounced Bickel dead at the scene.
