Churches, community prep for Maryville/Alcoa ESPN game

One of East Tennessee's top high school football rivalries will be in the national spotlight Sunday.

Maryville will play Alcoa on ESPN 2 Sunday at 12 p.m.

The game is so big this year, area churches are even adjusting their schedules so people can watch the game. Both schools told 10News that when they learned ESPN would televise their competition, they quickly sought the support of community congregations.

"To our surprise, most of the churches have been extremely supportive," said George Quarles, head football coach at Maryville High School.
