People gathered at the Blount County Library Monday to take a look into their past and remember their heritage. The city hosted City of Alcoa: History in Pictures.

Last year, Judge David Duggan and George Williams spent months searching for historic pictures of Alcoa for a book they were working on.

Their book, which includes over 220 historic photographs, was released last November.

Monday, they gave a presentation on their book and many pictures they didn't include.

Judge Duggan grew up in Alcoa and says he learned many new things about his town while working on the book.

"There were so many pictures that we found of places we were familiar with growing up, we know by virtue of being in Alcoa, but things we hadn't seen before-- people and places, especially some of the interior classroom scenes from some of the old schools and pictures of just, in general, community life," he said.

The Blount County Library will host more of these presentations in the coming months. Other topics include Blount County, Friendsville and Cade's Cove.
