An Old City restaurant known for its pizza, beer and live music will soon be opening a second location. The owner of "Barley's Tap Room and Pizzaria" says he is finalizing plans for a new spot in Downtown Maryville.

"Glad to hear about new neighbors, and bring some more attention to downtown," said Charles Irvine, who owns the Sullivan's restaurant directly across the street from the new Barley's location.

Irvine opened his own restaurant in 2003, with a strong belief in the downtown opportunity.

"I just thought there was a vision here of developing this downtown as many other cities have," he said.

Just down Broadway Avenue, another business owner echos that sentiment. Mark Brackin, of "Brackin's Blues Bar" says, the more the merrier.

"The more clubs down here, the more people are going to come to the so-called 'destination point.' So, I'm kind of excited that Barley's is coming in," he said.

Another new business just opened along the street, and owners hope to join in on the fun. Sisters Marla Pronoveaux and Robbie Woodall's new bakery, 'Robbie Ray's', sits just across the road from Barley's planned location.

"We think it's up and coming," Pronoveaux said about the downtown area. "Any new venue coming in is going to help our business, as well as established businesses here."

Barley's owner, Randy Burleson, says he expects the Maryville location to open in the spring of 2013.
