Elderly Maryville couple are victims of home invasion

Maryville police continue to investigate the home invasion of an elderly couple. Major Greg Cooke with the Maryville Police Department says that about 8 pm Wednesday night a man knocked on the door of the couple's residence on the 2500 block of Sevierville road.

When the 89-year-old woman answered the door, the suspect forced his way into the home.  He asked the woman if anyone else was in the house and then went to the bedroom and demanded money from the 88-year-old man.  They couple gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money.

As the suspect was making his way out of the house, the elderly man pulled a shotgun on the suspect.  The suspect grabbed the shotgun and left the house.  He dropped the shotgun on the way out and fled the area.

Neither of the victims were injured.  Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to call the Maryville Police Department tip-line at 380-1388
