Non-profit children's ministry displaced by Maryville fire

When Missy Johnson saw her office building Monday morning, she says she started to pray.

An early morning fire badly damaged the Law Building near Downtown Maryville.

For about a year, Johnson has been working for non-profit Kingdom Design Ministries out of a basement office.

"We do dream room make-overs for children who've experienced some devastation," said Johnson.

Firefighters estimate between 80,000-100,000 gallons of water rained down on the building as they tried for hours to extinguish all the hot spots.

Some golfers live on a golf course, some boaters live on a lake, and some East Tennesseans live on a runway.

"I've got a lot of flight ratings and I've always worked around airports. I just love it. I'm living my dream now," he said.

People park their planes at their houses instead of at rented hangars.

"It makes it so convenient. You can pull it out and fly it right here at the house," Clanton said.

Tommy Rowe moved there almost 20 years ago.

Flu season is just around the corner, and already drug stores and doctor's offices have supplies of this year's vaccine.

The shots will be available to patients by the end of the month.

The CDC recommends that people get their shots as soon as possible. It suggests everyone from six months old and older get a yearly vaccine.

One local flu shot clinic opens Tuesday.
