Firefighter injured fighting Walland cabin fire
News

A Blount County firefighter was treated for a sprained ankle after responding to a cabin fire late Monday morning.

Blount County firefighters responded to a cabin fire at 1008 Loop Road in Walland just before 11 a.m.

A dispatcher said the fire started in the chimney and spread to the attic. Firefighters had to call for additional manpower shortly after noon.

The fire was mostly contained to the exterior part of the roof and the upper floors of the house.

There were no fire hydrants nearby, so crews had to truck in water to douse the flames.

Crews also called for an ambulance to check out a firefighter who suffered injuries. The chief said he was treated and released from the hospital.
