Pair living in van face animal cruelty charges
News

A Blount County mother and son are facing animal cruelty charges after officers found nearly a dozen starving animals living with them inside a van.

Officers say Jeanna Gardner and Shawn Gardner were evicted from the home where they lived in Louisville back in October.

Last week, officers found five dogs and six cats, all in poor health, living with the Gardners inside a van.

One of the cats later died. A necropsy showed it starved to death.

The Gardners are charged with 11 counts of aggravated animal cruelty each.
