A member of the cafeteria staff at Maryville High School will receive a big honor in Washington, D.C. Monday.

The School Nutrition Foundation selected Cathy Potter to receive the annual School Nutrition hero award.

Potter and her husband are traveling to D.C. Monday to accept the award, given to people who have dedicated their lives to expand access to healthy school meals and serving the needs of the community.

Potter also founded Heaven Sent Home, a temporary emergency shelter for abused and misplaced women and children.

The School Nutrition Foundation also selected five others from across the country to receive awards Monday.
