Maryville skateboarder hospitalized after getting hit by a car | News
(WBIR - Blount County) A Maryville teen is recovering in the hospital after he was hit by a car Tuesday night while skateboarding.
The Blount County Sheriff's Office said Max Vettel, 17, is in stable condition at UT Medical Center. Earlier Wednesday, officials said he was in critical condition.
According to investigators, he was skateboarding on Morganton Road near Ratledge Road when he was hit by a Kia Soul, driven by 23-year-old Amanda Belitz.
Vettel went onto the hood of the car then fell into a ditch. He was not wearing a helmet or any safety equipment.
The driver wasn't cited and authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol was a factor.
