Maryville microbreweries pass first reading

Maryville may soon be home to a few microbreweries.

The Maryville City Council passed an ordinance allowing microbreweries in city limits. Council members voted unanimously Tuesday on the first reading.

The ordinance would allow beer manufacturers to sell for on-site or off-site drinking. It says manufacturers must produce at least 200 barrels each year.

The second and final reading is set for September.
