Tomato Head closes Maryville branch, moving to new West Knoxvile location

Tomato Head's Maryville branch served it last dish on Saturday.

According to its manager, Tomato Head is closing its Maryville location and will be moving to a new West Knoxville store. The new location will be at the Gallery Shopping Center off Kingston Pike. Tomato Head will replace the Silver Spoon American Cafe.

On Sunday, workers began the moving process. Workers said they are moving some of the kitchen utensils to the new location. All employees at the Maryville restaurant received job offers at the West Knoxville location.

Bluetick Brewery in Maryville launched their new beers on Thursday.

Choices on tap included Chimney Tops Smoked Peat Porter, Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel American Amber, and a seasonal brew: Pritchard's Rum Cask Pumpkin Ale.

The brewmaster has been at it for a while, and this brand is so new that its permanent brewery isn't even finished yet. They're hoping to have a brewery open to the public by June.

Bluetick Brewery is named after blue tick hound dogs, the breed of Smokey.

Back Yard Burgers says Knoxville locations not affected by bankruptcy

The two Back Yard Burgers locations in Knoxville say they are not in danger of closing after the company declared bankruptcy on Wednesday. Representatives with the company say the West Knox County and Maryville locations are franchise-owned, and will stay open.

The family-owned franchise has been operating in Knoxville since 1987.

Some locations in other parts of Tennessee and in other states have announced they are closing.

Barley's to open second location in Maryville

An Old City restaurant known for its pizza, beer and live music will soon be opening a second location. The owner of "Barley's Tap Room and Pizzaria" says he is finalizing plans for a new spot in Downtown Maryville.

"Glad to hear about new neighbors, and bring some more attention to downtown," said Charles Irvine, who owns the Sullivan's restaurant directly across the street from the new Barley's location.

Irvine opened his own restaurant in 2003, with a strong belief in the downtown opportunity.
